Silicon solar cells are made up of large-area PN junctions formed from silicon semiconductor material, connected in series and parallel. The N-type material is equipped with a metal grid line as a contact electrode, while the back side also features a metal film as a contact electrode, forming the solar panel. Monocrystalline silicon solar cells have the highest conversion efficiency, with an experimental maximum of 25%.
